Paid Leave

Sick Leave

Sick leave accrues at a rate of 12 days per year for most full-time employees. Accrued sick leave may be used in the event of an employee's illness or illness of a member of the immediate household, or of family members. Vacation Leave

Most full-time County employees receive 12 days of vacation after one year of continuous full-time employment. After five years of employment, employees receive an increased number of paid vacation days. Holidays

Each year the County observes nine holidays. In addition, each full-time employee may take eight hours of holiday between Thanksgiving and New Year's. For more information please refer to your collective bargaining agreement, contact your Human Resource Department or Payroll.

Bereavement Leave

An employee will be granted up to three days leave of absence with full pay in the event of a death in the immediate family or immediate household. For more information please refer to your collective bargaining agreement, contact your Human Resource Department or Payroll.

Catastrophic Leave Form

This may be an option when an employee, his/her spouse, domestic partner or member of the immediate household experiences a catastrophic medical condition and exhausts all accrued leave. For more information please contact your Human Resource Department. Catastrophic Leave Application

Jury and Judicial Leave

Leave is granted with full pay in lieu of jury or witness fees any time an employee is called for jury duty or subpoenaed as a witness to State or Federal Court. For more information please refer to your collective bargaining agreement.

Military Training

The County will grant paid and unpaid leave for military training and service. For more information please contact your Human Resource Department.
