Assessment & Treatment for Youth & Families

This program provides in-home, community-based family assessment and treatment for adolescents involved in the criminal justice system, giving them the strategies and tools to complete their education and to become productive citizens.

Eligibility

  • Between the ages of 12 and 18
  • Involved (either formally or informally) with DCJ
  • Unable to be immediately and appropriately served in the community
  • For GAIN, has not received a comprehensive Mental Health or Alcohol & Drug assessment in last 12 months
  • For out-patient therapy, has a Mental Health or Alcohol & Drug diagnosis and/or meets criteria for level 1 or level 2 treatment

  • Global Appraisal of Individual Needs (GAIN)
  • Out-patient Mental Health & Alcohol & Drug treatment
  • Crisis intervention

Detention care coordination

Mental Health Care Coordinators ensure that mental health care is coordinated for detained youth with serious mental health issues. Services include:

  • Transition Planning (including assessment)
  • Liaison with outside treatment providers to increase “ownership” of detained clients
  • Custody Staff Education
