Assessment & Treatment for Youth & Families
This program provides in-home, community-based family assessment and treatment for adolescents involved in the criminal justice system, giving them the strategies and tools to complete their education and to become productive citizens.
Eligibility
- Between the ages of 12 and 18
- Involved (either formally or informally) with DCJ
- Unable to be immediately and appropriately served in the community
- For GAIN, has not received a comprehensive Mental Health or Alcohol & Drug assessment in last 12 months
- For out-patient therapy, has a Mental Health or Alcohol & Drug diagnosis and/or meets criteria for level 1 or level 2 treatment

- Global Appraisal of Individual Needs (GAIN)
- Out-patient Mental Health & Alcohol & Drug treatment
- Crisis intervention
Detention care coordination
Mental Health Care Coordinators ensure that mental health care is coordinated for detained youth with serious mental health issues. Services include:
- Transition Planning (including assessment)
- Liaison with outside treatment providers to increase “ownership” of detained clients
- Custody Staff Education
