Dear Friends, I am still thinking about an article I read in the Oregonian a few days ago, "Amid a recovery, food stamp use up" (3/13/12). The article reported that 22% of Oregonians - over one in five people - rely on food stamps to meet their basic needs. This drastically high number is just one more indication that while the economy is starting to improve, individuals in our community are struggling to meet their basic needs for food and shelter.

Citizen Involvement Committee On Thursday, March 15, the Multnomah County Citizen Involvement Committee (CIC) andCounty Chair Jeff Cogen will co-sponsor an educational forum about changes in the health care system due to new state and federal laws.
