Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Tomorrow morning, I'll be getting up and ready before the sun rises and I'm inviting you to join me.
On Tuesday, November 15th, Portland and Multnomah County will observe the second annual "Day of Homelessness Awareness." The day will begin at 7am with a "Walk of Awareness," starting at the Downtown Chapel Roman Catholic Parish and ending at the 13 Salmon Family Day Center at First Unitarian Church.

Tuesday, Nov. 15 marks the second annual Day of Homelessness Awareness in Portland and Multnomah County. Local government officials, religious leaders and residents will observe the day by embarking on a walk of awareness at 7 a.m.
Multnomah County partners with local organizations to add 68 shelter beds for homeless families

Multnomah County and the Family Shelter-to-Housing Partnership have collaborated to offer 68 additional shelter beds to homeless families with children this winter.

TIGER III Grant Application for the Sellwood Bridge

The $22.7 million TIGER III grant will leverage $246.1 million in other committed funds for the Sellwood Bridge Replacement Project. The Project partners worked extensively to secure the locally committed funds (86%) and previously secured federal funds (6%). The County is requesting only 8% of the total cost from the TIGER III grant to close the funding gap.
Multnomah County Board of Commissioners passes ban on sale of some products with Bisphenol A

Multnomah County has adopted a policy restricting the sale in the county of all reusable beverage containers used by infants, children and adults that contain the chemical Bisphenol A.

On Tuesday, November 15, 2011, Portland and Multnomah County will observe the second annual "Day of Homelessness Awareness." This year's Day of Homelessness Awareness will focus on three concrete actions that people of faith can take to help end homelessness:

Accessing Services: The Homeless Shelters in the Family Shelter-to-Housing Partnership (FSHP) are available to families with children under 18 years old. During the winter in Multnomah County, 211info is the primary contact for Homeless Shelter Services. People may dial 211 to find out details about the Family Winter Shelter, which provides overnight shelter and serves as the main entry point for three family shelters: Portland Homeless Family Solutions, Daybreak Shelter Network and Common Cup.
