Some of our major initiatives
Google Apps
On October 25, 2010, Multnomah County IT implemented Google Apps for Government (Google Apps) becoming one of the first local governments nationwide to use cloud-based email and calendaring services. Switching to Google Apps gives County staff access to email and collaboration tools anywhere and at anytime.
Data Center
The design, build and migration to a new state-of-the-art data center model consisting of one Tier II+ data center incorporating advanced “green” technologies in data center, cooling and infrastructure design, and the sourcing of a secondary data center advancing the County’s disaster recovery capabilities.
Network Convergence
The consolidation of the County’s voice and data networks, and implementation of unified voice and video communications as part of a larger project to re-architect IT data center operations. Project will include the replacement of its existing Wide Area Network core, and the procurement and implementation of a new voice system platform capable of supporting converged voice, video and data, as well as other IP-enabled services.
