Beginning Urban Farmer Apprenticeship Program Featured in Urban Farm Magzine!
This week Urban Farm Magazine online ran a story documenting some of the groundbreaking farmer apprenticeship programs that are sprouting up all over the country. Featured in the article is BUFA and our very own Farmer Dan talking about the program.
“The program is a way to get a younger generation the knowledge and experience to go out and be a farmer,” Bravin says. “We’re hoping that it becomes a small economic engine so that people have more opportunities in the food system to create small businesses and that’s the one thing that we really want to see come out of this.”
Multnomah County, in partnership with OSU Extension Service, is leading the way in a nation-wide trend in small-scale farmer training programs. The Beginning Urban Farmer Apprenticeship (BUFA) will begin its second season on April 4, training the next generation of farmers for our community.
