Comparing 2013 Medicare plans? County offers individual and group appointments to help wade through options
The Multnomah County SHIBA (Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance) program will offer a variety of options to help people with Medicare compare their current coverage with the plans available for 2013.
One-on-one counseling events at local libraries have been popular, and few individual enrollment appointments are still available. The county is also offering the “Plan Finder Boot Camp,” new this year, which focuses on the Medicare online plan finder and other tools for individuals to use on their own.
“Medicare coverage is very individual, and people approach it differently,” said Janet Bowman, SHIBA Coordinator. Many people would rather do their research themselves, but don’t know how to use the online tools to make it easy. Our Plan Finder Boot Camp is for them, and for family members helping a loved one.”
