Free tax preparation assistance

Wednesday, 2/8/12 - 5:13 pm

Tax help is available for seniors, people with disabilities and low-income individuals and families.

When every penny counts, paying to get your taxes done is not something many of us can afford. Even the most basic tax forms can be confusing and there are tax credits you may qualify for.

Multnomah County residents have several resources for free tax preparation assistance. You can find free tax preparation sites by searching the ADRC of Oregon database. These include:

AARP Tax Aide Program

CASH Oregon

IRS Tax Assistance Program

Also, take some time to visit the IRS website. The site contains forms, information about local offices, where to file and resources. Check out their publication “Credit for the Elderly or the Disabled”.

Multnomah County’s Aging and Disability Services Helpline can assist area seniors and adults living with disabilities. Call 503-988-3646 for help and answers to questions about local tax resources.
