Mark Sanford, public guardian and conservator, named National Master Guardian

Mark Sanford, Multnomah County Public Guardian and Conservator, has achieved the National Master Guardian Certification. This is the highest level of certification available for professional fiduciaries and there are only 50 National Master Guardians in the country.  

To achieve this esteemed certification the applicant must qualify for and pass an exam covering core competencies including:  professional practice/role; limitation, termination, modification of guardianships; concepts of surrogate decision making; courts and legal processes; knowledge of the protected person, care planning/resources; medical decision making, end of life, complex health issues; financial management, accountability, public benefits; and professional standards and ethics.
