Social & Support Services for Educational Success
The Social and Support Services for Educational Success program (SSSES) fosters academic achievement by providing school-linked, age appropriate and culturally specific academic support, case management, family engagement, and skill-building groups. This program is part of the SUN Service System.
SSSES provides services for youth 6-17 yrs. of age and their families so that youth remain in or return to school. These services are delivered at community and school sites to youth attending regular and/or alternative schools who are at risk of academic failure.
SSSES serve various populations of youth throughout Multnomah County including six targeted outreach populations (TOP) of youth and their families: African American, African Immigrant, Asian Pacific Islander, Latino, Native American and Slavic.
Key services include:
- Case management with identified academic and life goals
- Skill building groups
- Avademic support activities such as tutoring, mentoring, reading club, gender groups, and conflict resolution classes
- Parent outreach/engagement
SSSES staff work with SUN Community Schools (SUN CS) programs and other school personnel to augment school based services.
