Meet Kimberly Powe, new director of Multnomah County's Office of Sustainability

Earlier this month, Multnomah County welcomed Kimberly Powe as the new director for our Office of Sustainability. In her new position, Powe will play a key role in promoting county practices that are not only environmentally and economically sound, but socially equitable.


Earth Week 2013 Kick-Off at CROPS Farm!

The Office of Sustainability is excited to celebrate Earth Week 2013 at CROPS Farm on Sunday, April 21st! This will be the first volunteer opportunity at CROPS this season, and we could not think of a better way to help Farmer Dan sow the seeds for a great fifth year on the farm!


Sustainability Specialist Receives Prestigious Fellowship at the Congressional Hunger Center

Adrien Schless-Meier, our dedicated AmeriCorps Member serving the Office of Sustainability in both food programs and resource conservation, has been awarded a prestigious opportunity  to participate in the Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellowship at the Congressional Hunger Center.

Yesterday, as I was telling a new acquaintance about what I do, she asked me, "Is it common for local governments to host AmeriCorps members?" Thinking about the other members of my cohort with Confluence Environmental Center, I realized that I was indeed part of a small handful of people working in the public sector.
