About Us

Multnomah County, headquartered in Portland, OR, is a national leader in promoting sustainability. Since 2001, Multnomah County’s Office of Sustainability has led the county’s efforts to adopt sustainable internal government operations and works to support sustainability efforts in the community.

The Multnomah County Office of Sustainability provides leadership, education, policy analysis, project development and accountability for the County's sustainability efforts.
Key efforts include:

  • Launching the Multnomah Food Initiative and developing the Multnomah Food Action Plan
  • Co-developing the Portland/Multnomah 2009 Climate Action Plan
  • Hosting the quarterly Multnomah County Sustainabiltiy Film Series at McMenamin's Bagdad Theater
  • Training the next generation of farmers with the Beginning Urban Farmers Apprenticeship program
  • Feeding hungry families through the county's CROPS farm
