Multnomah, Washington county officials to discuss transfer plan for Area 93 at July 25 meeting

July 22, 2013

Multnomah and Washington county officials will meet Thursday, July 25 to discuss the transfer plan agreement for Area 93 to become part of Washington County.

The meeting from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the French American School (8500 N.W. Johnson St., Portland) is open to the public but no public testimony will be taken at that meeting.

After the July 25 meeting, the boards for Multnomah and Washington counties are tentatively scheduled to act on the transfer plan agreement at their regularly scheduled public meetings in late August when the public can testify on the agreement.

Area 93, about 160 acres, is in Multnomah County, about 2.5 miles north of the U.S. Highway 26/Oregon 217 interchange. The area was one of several areas included in the 2002 expansion of the urban growth boundary, but is isolated from other urban areas in Multnomah County by a rural reserve about a half-mile wide.

The site is contiguous to urban Washington County on two sides, and the 2013 Legislature -- with the support of Multnomah and Washington counties as well as Metro -- passed a bill that allows the transfer of Area 93 to Washington County.
