All are welcome to attend the community forum beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1 in the auditorium at Jefferson High School, 5210 N. Kerby.

“Gangs are our entire community’s problem,” said Carl Goodman, assistant director of the Multnomah County Department of Community Justice, which is organizing the forum with the city of Portland and community partners.

“And solving the complex problem of gangs will require all of us,” Goodman said, “to work together on finding solutions.”

This forum at Jefferson High School is set up to help every community member take action by linking them to opportunities for any one person to get connected with community groups.

Among those opportunities to help out are going on a foot patrol, removing graffiti, mentoring and coaching young people, or joining prayer and support groups working on the gang problem.

The forum schedule calls for informal networking (with food to be served) from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., presenters from the community to speak from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and a resource fair from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

WHERE: Jefferson High School auditorium, 5210 N. Kerby.

WHEN: 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1.
